  1. @Teentimetv It’s hard to call it a town. More of a village or rural area. There’s really just a few buildings spread out over a few hundred yards.

    They have fantastic pie though.

  2. Oh, there SURELY is a God in Heaven. Sure, I knew about the Soupy suspension, but this video is just too, too precious and I cannot leave without saying how much I appreciate that it’s available for all to enjoy. Seriously, this belongs in the National Archives and the Library of Congress, not to mention the Museum of Broadcast Communications. Thank you for locating this great, one-of-a-kind memory of Soupy, and we all appreciate your willingness to share it with all his fans. Thank you!

  3. What Can You Say! Marx Bros/3 Stooges/ Jerry Seinfeld/ One of the Top Classic Comics Of All Time. I remember watching this guy at dinner time thruout the 50s, The Alice Cooper/White Fang thing a classic too. Peace/ Love/ stay Focused Folks-Jim

  4. Dear G.Monet,

Yes! The naked woman behind the front door of Soupy’s house on The ABC TV Network version of his kudult tv comedy show is tame by today’s stanards.

But..Back then..it wasn’t funny and when Soupy said”There goes my life..my career”..he wasn’t joking..if this was seen by the audience..everyone could have gotten fired and thrown into jail.

  5. RIP Soupman !!..You will be missed !!

  6. RIP Soupy. Died Oct 22, 2009

  8. Thank you so much pattiecake11, that was great. I knew it was a surprise for him, but did not know about the crew taking photos. I was afraid that rarity was lost forever..while some was cut here, you made my day.

  10. His second most infamous clip was when the crew got a stripper to show up behind the door set to “entertain” Soupy on his birthday, as I recall the occassion. It seems to have been blocked by family or friends, but was available here until after his death. Seems timid by todays standards. Glad I got to see it before it disappeared.

  11. He was the crazy young uncle we all wish we had. I miss him.

  12. Bless you Soupy! Shalom!

  13. RIP, Soupy Sales!

  14. One of my most vivid memories is watching that show when he did that. I didn’t send money because we were out of envelopes. Honest to God. I owned a Soupy Sales Vinyl lunchbox. I was cleaning the themos in my bathroom sink and the darn thing fell in the toilet bowl. I never used the Thermos again after that. True story!

  15. OMG.thanks for posting soupy,what memories!!!

  16. Soupy Sales brings back many fond memories of my childhood as he was an important part of it. And I will always remember him fondly. Love you Soupy forever.

  17. I met Soupy in of all places, a mall in New Haven, CT….was he eating at some fancy restaurant? …of course not….we were both buying a hot dog….and talking to him was like talking to an old friend…he was just Soupy….he was the real thing…God bless you Soupy

  18. I was 3 years old and I remembered seeing this! I didn’t send any money because I was too young to know what “Puerto Rico” was.

  19. He had a real skill. A great raconteur, very easy, very relaxed. Must have been great to hang out with after gigs and drink. You can just imagine the stories and how he’d tell them. RIP

  20. Soupy was the greatest. Always kind to his fans. He was smart, quick witted, and generous.
I feel honored and lucky to have had been able to meet him, when he was on his show at channel 5, and later on in comedy clubs. He had a hugh following in N.Y. Both kids and adults loved him.
He was warm and kind hearted. Too bad, he was not know by kids today. They surely missed out. He will be missed.

  21. Soupy’s soft drawl made me feel immediately at home…and yet who could relax through his manically-funny routines?
God bless you Soupy, and thank you.

  22. God Bless Soupy Sales!!! R.I.P.!!!

I also remember when he was the guest host on the NBC shoe Hullabaloo around 1965-66.

I echo DennyYou, Soupy, you were the biggest star of my childhood too, so fun and fancy free, man you could really be cool and hip, and made us kids feel real good–and you were wholesome, warm, kooky, nutty, clever, dumb sometimes, silly always. Goodbye, enjoy heaven!!

  25. God Bless you, Soupy! You made my childhood so much fun. I miss you already. Of all of the celebs that have passed away this year, I wanted most of all to meet Soupy. Heaven is now a much funnier place. We love you and will miss you terribly!
