well what can i say? people dont really pay attention to instruments anymore, the saturated effects and girly voices appeal to them more these days… sighsss…

  6. like 3:30 till the end makes the hair stand for me

  7. yea he quotes it

  8. This is my first time actually hearing him play after reading about him for years in guitar mags. What a player, love his style.

  9. Sic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. love to watch Trucks play. He goes right into the zone and all the years and years of practice become immediately apparent. So very young but a virtuoso of the slide axe nonetheless. His quiet intensity and lack of histrionics is a rare sight in one so vastly talented – not unlike Jeff Beck

  11. @puakaastro Good catch. Its close. Pretty funny.

  12. 1:25-1:33 isn’t that ‘My Favorite Things’?

@gabidrg Your right..There are still some very good mainstream acts and or artist out their . It’s just fair few in between you have to search throw all the bull shit to get to them. I hardly lesson to the radio no reason to with all of the technology available. I imagine most artist love the indy label do to being able to create innovative music with out major label pressure to appeal to the masses .. Indy is the future, any ways I love Derek trucks although he is a MAJOR LABEL ACT

@gabidrg No, you are RIGHT ON with that. Its sickening today when these musical entertainers (I refuse to call them artists) having more backup-dancers (and sometimes animals) onstage than musicians, and more lights and fireworks onstage than people in the audience. And the get street cred for NOT lip-synching. The travesty (or tragedy!) that occurred on the newyears rockin eve showed the horrendous state of what calls itself pop music

  15. I can see why Mr. Winter likes this guy so much.

2:50 and on, there’s flames comin off of the strings. Fucking boss.

  16. @CharlottewithanS Actually it is! Not everybody having a record on the market is a musician, that’s the clue. Some of the most creative lads are confined to the indie stage, but mainstream market still offers some exceptions. I guess I am a lame old guy commenting here…

  17. oteil burbridge…no doubt one of the top 5 (i would say top 3) living bassists playing right now.

@CookingWithSavana This is from a guy that thinks someone walking about with a bucket on their head is great entertainment, excuse me if i dont look to you for my musical quality assurance

All the comments here are from old people. Chill out dudes it’s not like all musicians sins 80 plus were fake. I’m 13 and love these guys but also more modern musicians to. If you look at bands like the White stripes, Artic monkeys and Vampire weekend you find the same kind of awsome rock!

“Musicians are back to the main stage! ”

It’s exciting isn’t it? Musicians playing their own instruments? What a concept.

  23. Years ago I was listening to The Mahavishnu Orchestra and John McLaughlin, thinking that their music will probably remain sticked to the pink 70’s. Now there is this guy bringing it all back and adding some more. Musicians are back to the main stage!

  24. @goobinhymer Oteil Burbridge on the bass…also got a brother Kofi, amazing flute and keyboard player in DTB

  25. seen ABB twice and DTB twice…both times, sooo awesome..
